Petra Animal Foundation is a non profitable organization established in Mauritius in December 2018 and run by Mrs Petra Gisske to help and support dogs and other animals in needs by saving the stray ones and sterilizing them and providing food, shelter and medical assistance to them.

As I came from an animal friendly family I have always loved animals dearly. I was given my first puppy when I was a little girl. I have always helped animals and dreamed to have an animal clinic where I would help animals in need. That is why I started this foundation because here in Mauritius as there are too many animals which need help.

When I look in the dog’s eyes I don’t see a dog but I see a soul.

In Mauritius we live in a multicultural environment and the rest of the world looks up to us because we live in a harmony and we respect each other. It doesn’t matter which culture we are from we all seek spiritual inspiration and nourishment. For me, the most inspiring source of wisdom comes from the Vedic culture. Divine has both male and female aspects and for me the concept of Divine Mother is the most amazing. Divine Mother is the mother of the Universe. She is the mother of all beings and all beings are her children. We were given this beautiful planet Earth to live in harmony.
